 Legend of Zelda clone
Hi guys, I've been tossing around the idea of creating a Legend of Zelda clone as a practice and a chance to update the graphics. Is anybody else up for that?
I just did a web search and found that somebody has already done something like this, but it appears to be for windows only (woe to we Mac and Linux users). But I think it's a great chance to do something great. I was thinking, perhaps not an exact clone (in order to maintain the sense of mystery and not knowing where all the secrets are) and add a new feature or two. But I'd really like it to stay in the spirit of the original game.
I'm an absolute beginner, if there are any more experienced programmers who'd like the mentor the project by evaluating code ... or let me me know that this project is too ambitious for a beginner I'd really appreciate the input!

It certainly is ambitious but in my opinion you're better off picking a project you're enthusiastic about, so I say go for it.
A full rpg like Legend of Zelda is going to require a ton of work in pretty much every department, so get ready for a long road ahead.

 Re: Legend of Zelda clone
I might help a little, could we make it a new game, but same style as the zelda games?

 Re: Legend of Zelda clone
I wouldn't be opposed to writing the first part of it as a new game, and then just use the engine personally to copy Zelda. In fact, an extensible game like that would be a really good idea! People could use the code to write their own adventures later on. So absolutely!

Ok, I'll help out. Might not be able to do a ton with school finally giving homework, but I'll try!

No worries! I'm not even close to starting to do anything but the art and story. So if you have any ideas for that, let me know.
